The mind, body and spirit need to be nurtured and fed. As a church, we play together, study together, cook and eat together, and provide health services and programs to members and the community alike.
|
The goals and objectives of the health ministry are:
- Evangelism through members offering friendship to non-members as they participate together and mentor each other.
- Raise awareness regarding health ministries and enlist personal and financial support of members and non-members.
- Increase knowledge, skills and health enhancing behaviours for members, non-members and youth.
The ongoing ministries of the health ministry are:
- Healthy Choices Vegetarian Classes twice a year and periodic follow up potluck dinners
- CHIP (Coronary Health Improvement Project) usually during the month of March
Healthy Choices Vegetarian Classes
Classes can be arranged in other parts of Canada and United States. The classes include demonstrations, videos or DVDs, lectures and samples. Topics regularly covered are:
- Advantages of Being Vegetarian
- Reducing Risk of Cancer, Diabetes and Hypertension
- Protein, Calcium and Vitamin B 12 in a Vegan Diet
- Trans-fatty acids
- Lycopenes
- Vegan Diets for Children
- Reducing Food Costs
- Obesity and Fad Diets
- Food Label Reading
- Problems with Dairy
- Osteoporosis

| BananasBananas stand out for their vitamin B6 content. They also contain significant amounts of vitamin C, B1, B2 and E as well as folates. They are quite rich in potassium, magnesium and iron.
